Nitish Kumar never met Cambridge Analytica CEO: KC Tyagi

The JD(U) on Thursday asserted that it never used the services of controversial data firm Cambridge Analytica, and its president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar never had any meeting with its now sacked CEO Alexander Nix.

The comments from its spokesperson K C Tyagi came after opposition parties alleged that the JD(U)-BJP alliance used the services of Cambridge Analytica in the 2010 assembly polls. The fact that K C Tyagi's son Amrish Tyagi heads Ovleno Business Intelligence (OBI), said to be the Indian affiliate of Cambridge Analytica, has been used by opposition parties to allege a link between the regional party and the disgraced firm.

BJP says Cambridge Analytica's footprints seen in Congress's Gujarat campaign

The BJP stepped up its attack on Rahul Gandhi over his party's alleged links with Cambridge Analytica, saying its "footprints" were visible in the opposition party's campaign in Gujarat and suggested that it had a role in the Congress chief's use of the term "Gabbar Singh Tax".

The data analytics firm is known for its "aggressive and fake news" campaign, party leader and Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters, suggesting that it had a role in Gandhi's social media campaign and the Congress' "poisonous" electioneering in Gujarat.

He also accused Gandhi of doing politics on dead bodies, after the Congress chief criticised the government over the killing of 39 Indians in Iraq. PNB fraud: Interpol seeks additional information from ED

The Interpol has sought additional information from the ED about diamond traders Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi in connection with the over Rs 12,000 crore PNB scam, as part of the process to issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) against them.

Official sources said the global police body asked the central probe agency why it wanted an arrest warrant against the duo.

They said the agency replied to the international police that the two are required for taking forward the criminal probe launched by it against them on money laundering charges, and not for a court trial. While the agency had furnished these details in its application to the Interpol some time ago, the global body still had some queries, they said.

The agency had sought an Interpol warrant against the two diamond traders based on a Mumbai court-issued non-bailable warrants against them in a case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). (PTI)
