In an interview with CNBC-TV18's Mitali Mukherjee, Aberdeen Asset Management Asia's strategist, Peter Elston pointed out the main reason that is keeping the global sentiments subdued.

What's keeping them so depressed across Asia and Europe?A: The markets are still in a period of turbulence following the very sharp fall seen in the first few days of August, which was a rather large disruption to markets. It will take a while for the markets to recover from those. I suspect a volatile few weeks ahead of us. The investors are sort of getting used to the fact that the global economy is a lot weaker than previously suspected. Q: How deep is the downside risk for equities at this point? After a very rough week gone by, there was a sense that the price damage would perhaps be limited from here on.
