Rolls-Royce has inaugurated a new 700-seater Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, described as the company’s largest and most advanced facility worldwide.
“Initiatives like this have helped Bengaluru emerge as one of the top three cities globally for aerospace investment. Rolls-Royce has been contributing to the state’s aerospace industry from the very beginning, and this new GCC marks another milestone,” Large and Medium Industries Minister MB Patil said while inaugurating the centre.
The facility enhances Rolls-Royce’s operations in India, where it employs over 3,000 people, the majority of whom are based in Karnataka. The workforce includes over 2,000 high-skilled engineers working in-house and through partnerships.
The state also hosts global and domestic players, such as Axus, Collins Aerospace, Wipro, Mahindra, Boeing, Airbus, and Pixel, which are active in areas ranging from propulsion and power systems to structural components and advanced technologies.
Patil underlined that aerospace is a key driver of Karnataka’s manufacturing economy. “Our aerospace and defence policy is investor-friendly and provides attractive incentives. The strong research culture in the state further complements and strengthens this ecosystem,” he said.
GCCs are offshore units established by multinational corporations (MNCs) in countries like India to perform various operations and provide support services for their parent companies.
GCCs have seen massive growth in India, and the sector is poised to contribute 3.5 per cent to India’s GDP by 2030. GCCs are set to employ over 21 lakh professionals, in around 1800 GCC units, by the end of 2025, from 15 lakhs in 2020.
Rolls-Royce’s journey in India encompasses licensed production of engines with HAL, supporting India’s armed forces, and driving digital innovation and engineering excellence from Bengaluru.
"The Government of Karnataka remains fully committed to supporting such initiatives through progressive policies, infrastructure development, and ease of doing business," Patil added.
