IKEA aims for 'one click, 30 minutes away' format as it explores new India-centric expansion model

On battling the consumption slowdown, Sharma told IE that wide range of products at every possible price point helps in better reach.

Apart from furnishing solution, IKEA is also planning to focus on food. Sharma said that it accounts for nearly 8 percent of the total business in India.

IKEA has big India plans with special focus on newer, smaller store format. Even as the economy witnesses a marked consumption slowdown, the home furnishing giant is bullish on India with more localised furniture lineup.

In an interview to The Indian Express, Adosh Sharma, country commercial manager of IKEA India, said that the company aims for ‘one click, 30 minutes away’ format. Explaining the concept, Sharma said that IKEA will be available for any customer with ‘one click’ and ‘30 minutes away’ means being reachable to the interest client in form a physical store in the area.

Sharma also told IE that IKEA is planning ‘order points.’ Here, a client will be able to plan all the furnishing needs. She/he need not visit a big furnishing stores for each and every refurbishing solution.

He also said that the IKEA India will soon launch stores between range of 20,000, going up to 40,000 (square feet), where people can get the unique experience and try new furniture range. On battling the consumption slowdown, Sharma told IE that wide range of products at every possible price point helps in better reach. He also said that the online stores have been doing well across India. Apart from furnishing solution, IKEA is also planning to focus on food. Sharma said that it accounts for nearly 8 percent of the total business in India.
