Foreign institutional investors (FII/FPI) were net buyers on March 26, purchasing shares worth Rs 2,240.55 crore while domestic institutional investors (DII) were net buyers of shares worth Rs 696.37 crore, provisional data showed.

During the trading session of March 25, FIIs net bought shares worth Rs 14,316.32 crore and sold shares worth Rs 12,075.77 crore. DIIs purchased shares worth Rs 12,416.37 crore and sold shares worth Rs 13,112.74 crore.

For the year so far, FIIs have been net sellers of shares worth Rs 1.47 lakh crore, while DIIs have net bought Rs 1.78 lakh crore worth of shares.

As for the trade today, benchmark indices Nifty and Sensex slumped, snapping a seven-day rally, as selling in financial names, along with major oil and gas stocks, dragged the markets deep into the red.
