Corporates promote use of Bengaluru Metro amid return to office push; congestion may worsen, warns traffic police

Bengaluru traffic police ask commuters to consider carpooling and companies to offer shuttle services to ease the burden on roads, which is likely to worsen from January 2024 onward.

A group of corporate executives recently boarded a Metro train from the Pattandur Agrahara Metro station near Whitefield to Byappanahalli Metro Station and back. Some of them experienced the Metro for the first time, leaving their SUVs behind.

The trip was organised by the International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB), which houses over 60,000 tech employees in the vicinity and now has Metro access.

As more and more corporate firms call their employees back, the ride perhaps gave the CEOs a sense of what their employees can expect. After the ride, the CEOs felt that a few loose ends would have to be tied up to make the Metro attractive to the employees.
