A lookout notice has reportedly been issued in the Videocon loan controversy, several media reports indicate.
A CNBC-TV18 report says a lookout notice has been issued against Videocon promoter Venugopal Dhoot and Deepak Kochhar, husband of ICICI Bank chief Chanda Kochhar and promoter of NuPower.
According to an India Today report, the lookout notice was sent to airports across the country on a request from the Central Bureau of Investigations also included Chanda Kochhar's name. The notice issued to prevent the three from flying out of the country without informing concerned authorities.
Moneycontrol could not independently verify the claims.
Moneycontrol has separately learned that Chanda Kochhar’s brother-in-law is also being questioned for the third consecutive day by CBI officials is connection with a restructuring loan of Rs 3,250 crore extended by ICICI Bank to Videocon Group in 2012.
Rajiv was detained at Mumbai airport when he was about to travel to Singapore.
As previously reported, the CBI is probing whether ICICI Bank mandated Rajiv's firm, Singapore-based Avista Advisory Group to restructure foreign currency denominated debt deals worth over $1.5 billion of seven companies over six years, including that of Videocon group of companies.
Avista Advisory, founded by Rajiv Kochhar, who is the brother-in-law of Chanda Kochhar, got the mandate to restructure foreign currency-denominated debt deals worth over USD 1.7 billion of seven companies over the period of last six years. All these companies were borrowers of ICICI Bank at the same time.
