A socio economic and caste census done in 2011 said that India has 1.82 lakh manual scavengers. In April this year, the central government claimed to have rehabilitated 11598 of these workers. However, manual scavenging continues to remain a huge problem in India. However Thiruvananthapuram-based Genrobotics could have a solution - robot 'Bandicoot'. Here's Jude Sannith who reports on how this robot can help Kerala's bid to eliminate manual scavenging once and for all.
