The fourth day of 2G spectrum auctions has drawn to a close and the numbers has the government grinning from ear-to-ear.The total value of bids received so far stand at nearly Rs 39,000 crore -- that's Rs 28,000 crore for 1800 megahertz, and Rs 10,500 crore for 900 megahertz spectrum. As things stand, the government will get around Rs 12,000 crore to plug its fiscal deficit. Remember, telecom companies will have to make an upfront payment of 33 percent for 1800 megahertz spectrum, and 25 percent of the bids for 900 megahertz spectrum. But telecom minister Kapil Sibal says the current mop-up stands much higher, and that the telecom sector stands at an inflexion point.Watch videos for Sibal's comments and KPMG's Jaideep Ghosh's views on the 2G auction so far.
