According to a Grant Thornton report there has been a significant reduction in M&A value as compared to the same period in 2010. Cross border transactions have shown growth. CG Srividya, Partner at Grant Thornton India tells CNBC-TV18, there is a considerable decline in domestic M&A activity but there are a few surprises sector-wise as well.

A: The good news is that in terms of the number of deals, the deal activity has been good. There has been a 20% increase in the number of deals compared to the third quarter of 2010, but there is a significant drop in the deal value. There has been more than a 50% reduction. That
