US lawmakers in India, discuss IPR, H1B visa issues: Sources

The Donald Trump administration in the US has previously suggested that it will impose curbs on the visas, which are commonly used by highly skilled Indian workers in the US.

US delegates met with Indian government representatives on Monday to discuss a variety of issues including work visas, bilateral trade and intellectual property rights (IPR). Sources close to the development said that a group led by Bob Godlatte, Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the House of Representatives, met with the Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the Indian IPR policies as well as copyright issues.The Indian representatives, in turn, raised issues relating to the H1B visa policies in the meeting. The Donald Trump administration in the US has previously suggested that it will impose curbs on the visas, which are commonly used by highly skilled Indian workers in the US. The US lawmakers will meet with different ministers on Tuesday to discuss more issues.
