The newly-constituted Defence Acquisition Council, which is headed by the defence minister, will be discussing the Defence Procurement Policy (DPP) of 2016 today. This policy will lay out the guidelines for procurement of defence platforms by the armed forces.
It has been delayed due to several reasons and as a result of which not many foreign investors have shown interest in investing in Indian joint ventures.
However, the chapter regarding strategic partnership with corporate India may not be a part of the DPP since all stakeholders are not on the same page.
