Bihar liquor ban: IMFL players to be marginally impacted

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today banned alcohol in the state, which will be imposed from April 1, 2016.

Fulfilling the promise made by him during campaigning, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today banned alcohol in the state, which will be imposed from April 1, 2016. After Bihar, other states are epxected to follow suit and ban liquor. More than Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL), it is the country liquor that is more famous and widely consumed in Bihar. Once the ban is imposed next year onwards, sale of country liquor will be badly impacted. Impact on IMFL is expected to be marginal due to low consumption levels. United Spirits contribute 5 percent to total liquor revenue and Globus Spirits contribute 17 percent. Watch video for more.
