Q. What are patterns? How do you spot them?

A. A chart pattern is a visual representation of price movements. When data is plotted, a pattern naturally occurs and repeats over a period of time. In short, they are geometric shapes found in charts which help in making sense of price action.

Traders use chart patterns to identify trends or reversals. There are two types of patterns – Reversal pattern and Continuation pattern. When a price signals a change in trend, it is a reversal pattern and when a price moves in the same direction of the trend after a pause, it is known as a continuation pattern
