The fertiliser sector is one of the important sectors for the growth of agriculture in India. Urea is one of the most widely used fertilisers in India and its MRP is still under government control. India produces nearly 22 million tonne of urea against the requirement of 28-29 million tonne. Urea is also imported to fill the gap between production and consumption. Phosphorous is the second largest nutrient consumed after urea in the form of DAP and NPK fertilisers. India imports more than 60% of its DAP requirement and 100% of its MOP needs as it does not have deposits of natural resources (raw materials) used in manufacturing of complex fertilisers. We believe Tata Chemicals will be the key beneficiary of the coming budget.r
