Banks will remain closed in multiple cities today as per the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Today's bank holiday is being observed in view of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Karthika Purnima and Rahas Purnima. The RBI publishes a comprehensive list of both national and regional holidays every year for the general public.
Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Guru Nanak Gurpurab or Guru Nanak Prakash Utsav, is celebrated to honour the birth of Guru Nanak, the first Sikh guru and the founder of Sikhism.
