The board of Wipro Limited has re-appointed Azim Premji and son Rishad on the board for five years with effect from July 31, 2024, a statement issued by the company on April 19 said. The decison is subject to approval of shareholders.
Azim Premji has been re-appointed as Wipro's Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director, while Rishad will be the Executive Chairman till July 2029.

Rishad joined Wipro in 2007 and held various positions before assuming the role of Executive Chairman in 2019. He began as a general manager in Wipro’s Banking and Financial Services business, later transitioning to head Investor Relations. Subsequently, he led Wipro’s Strategy and M&A function. As Wipro’s Chief Strategy Officer, Rishad initiated Wipro Ventures, a $250 million fund dedicated to investing in startups that develop technologies and solutions complementing Wipro's businesses. He also oversaw investor and government relations for the company.
Azim Premji took over Wipro in the late 1960s and and founded multiple businesses including what is now a $10.5 billion revenue IT Services company across 65 countries. Premji had relinquished executive duties at Wipro in July 2019.
