A subsidiary of Indian electronics maker Dixon Technologies has entered into a partnership with China’s Longcheer to focus on the production, manufacturing and distribution of smartphones for global brands.
The collaboration aims to enhance Padget Electronics' offerings in the smartphone market, Dixon said on April 19, adding the company would look to leverage the Chinese company’s expertise in design and technology.
With an estimated 28 percent share of original design manufacturing globally, Longcheer's partnership signifies a strategic alignment to deliver high-quality smartphones to the global market, the statement said.
“This association will give a strong impetus to India’s manufacturing competitiveness. We are ecstatic and encouraged by the trust that Longcheer and its designated customers have reposed on Dixon group for the proposed association and we firmly believe that this association will leverage our excellence, superior execution track record and Longcheer deep expertise in mobile phones,” Dixon Technologies vice chairman and managing director Atul Lall said.
The announcement comes a few days after Moneycontrol reported that Dixon Technologies was planning to acquire a majority 50.10 percent share in Ismartu India, a subsidiary of Chinese Transsion Technology Limited.
At 1.09 pm, Dixon Technologies was trading at Rs 7,399.95 on the National Stock Exchange, 1.31 percent down from the previous close.
