The Congress on May 9 petitioned the EC for "immediate action" against Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeals to Karnataka voters during the silence period ahead of voting day. The party alleges Modi's actions were "in violation" of the model code, and said it was "a litmus test" for the EC's willingness and capacity to enforce laws.
