Kumar said with over 940 inter-state border check posts in five states, any cross-border movement of illicit cash, liquor, freebies and drugs will be checked.  As many as 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 assembly constituencies.

“Around 60 lakh first-time voters will participate in elections. As many as 15.39 lakh young voters are eligible to participate in elections due to amendment on qualifying dates. To inspire young voters, over 2, 900 polling stations will be managed by youth,” added Kumar.

Post the announcement of dates,  BJP President JP Nadda posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Under the leadership of PM Modi, BJP will form government in all the states with an overwhelming majority and will work with determination to fulfil the aspirations of the people for the next 5 years."

Reaching out

“Special polling booths being set up for vulnerable tribal groups in all states. We are ensuring people and officials don't have to face challenges on ground,” said Kumar while announcing state polls schedule. Polling stations will be set up in reserve forest areas and sanctuaries for tribals in Madhya Pradesh.  Polling teams in Mizoram will travel on foot through 22 non-motorable polling stations and 19 riverine polling stations by boat.

With the motto of #EveryVoteMatters, EC is also setting up new booths in remote and inaccessible areas to facilitate voter participation. New polling booth to be set up in desert areas of Barmer, Rajasthan and Tulsi Dongri Hill in Chhattisgarh-Odisha border.
