Jawed Habib, who has been in the hair and beauty business for decades, recently shared in a new Instagram video that hair fall is a common problem in North India, which happens due to sweat that creates dandruff, which he called a ‘poison’ for the hair. He shared that while people want long hair, they don’t do what’s necessary, which is washing their hair daily.
“In North India, specifically the North-East, there’s a problem of sweat, which creates a type of dandruff inside our hair and on our skin. We call this 'roosi (dandruff)'. And this 'roosi' or dandruff is a kind of poison for the hair. What is the solution? Well, to begin with, there is a lot of superstition. People want to keep their hair long but don't want to wash it. It leads to itching which breaks our hair. So, what is the solution? You will wash your hair daily, and how do you wash it?” he shared.
Jawed Habib suggested going back to the good old tradition of oiling hair, but with a twist. He explained the steps that need to be followed right from wetting hair first to oiling it, and then washing it off.
He further added, “You will wash it my way. What is the method? First, wet your hair, because oil doesn't work on dry hair. Then use mustard oil. Mustard is in abundance here and God must have given it for a reason, so apply mustard oil. Don't massage it. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes and wash it off. Whether you use shampoo, soap, or reetha to wash it, that depends on you. But you have to do it daily. If you do it daily, your hair will never break or fall. Before the age of 50, no one's hair usually breaks. If hair is breaking, it means people are not following me.”
