In a jaw-dropping revelation, background verification platform OnGrid has flagged what could be India's most extreme case of moonlighting—an individual who held 141 overlapping jobs in just seven years!
Using its Employment History Check (EHC) system powered by verified EPFO data, OnGrid discovered that the candidate worked for as many as 10 companies at the same time, with no breaks between jobs from 2018 to 2021.
In the peak pandemic year of 2020 alone, while layoffs swept across industries, this person landed 50 new roles, moving across startups, corporates, and global firms like clockwork.
“This is a wake-up call,” said Piyush Peshwani, Co-founder and CEO of OnGrid. “Remote work and hybrid models have changed the game, but this also highlights the growing risk for employers. Traditional background checks just don’t cut it anymore.”
OnGrid’s EHC tool taps directly into government databases like EPFO to uncover employment overlaps, inconsistencies, and fraud in a secure, compliant way. With companies increasingly hiring across geographies and roles, such checks are becoming critical.
