The rains may feel refreshing, but they also bring a rise in fevers and infections. A fever, headache or body pain often seems like viral illness. But sometimes it turns out to be dengue. Catching the symptoms early and avoiding self medication can help you stay safe and recover faster.

Dr Anirban Chattopadhyay, Critical Care Specialist, CMRI, Kolkata, explains the difference between dengue and viral fever. “Both start with fever and body pain, which is why many people mistake dengue for a simple viral infection. But dengue usually hits harder, lasts longer, and may come with rashes, eye pain, or even bleeding,” he says.

The condition of children and the elderly, warns Dr  Chattopadhyay, can worsen quickly if dengue is missed.
