To strengthen your defenses against malaria, Dr Krishnan suggests 7 effective methods:
Use bug sprays: Apply big sprays with DEET on your skin to keep mosquitoes away. DEET is a strong ingredient that stops mosquitoes from biting.
Mosquito nets: Sleep under mosquito nets treated with insecticide. These nets create a barrier between you and mosquitoes while you sleep. These nets are really good at stopping mosquito bites, especially at night when mosquitoes are most active.
Wear covered clothing: Wear long-sleeved shirts and pants especially when mosquitoes are out in the evening. This helps keep mosquitoes from biting you. It helps to avoid getting sick from malaria.
Screened space: Make sure your windows and doors have screens to keep mosquitoes out of your house. Also, ensure the doors are properly closed.
Antimalarial medication: If you're traveling to places where malaria is common, take medicine to prevent it. Taking antimalarial pills before, during, and after your trip. aids in prevention.
Remove breeding sites: Get rid of any water that's standing around your home. Stagnant water is where mosquitoes lay their eggs. By getting rid of it, you stop mosquitoes from multiplying.
