While older adults are generally comfortable with yoga and walking, many remain averse to strength training, often believing it’s meant only for athletes, bodybuilders, and the young.
Fitness coach Navneeth Ramprasad is breaking this myth by actively posting motivational videos on Instagram. His latest features his own parents, who he revealed were initially scared of lifting dumbbells.
That changed after 365 days of consistent strength training under his supervision, which helped them overcome several health problems. The results even shocked their doctors.
Navneeth’s video has inspired many on Instagram to give weightlifting an honest shot.
Along with the video, the fitness coach wrote: “A year ago, my parents said: Lifting weights? That’s for young people. We’re too old for all that. Walking is enough, no? They were wrong. And I’m glad I didn’t listen.”
Navneeth shared the encouraging results of their year-long training, achieved without crash diets — just simple movements and sufficient protein intake.
