Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga's starrer The Conjuring: Last Rites has come to an end, and viewers seem to be disappointed with the last instalment in the franchise.
Moviegoers enjoyed the first day, first show to relive the nostalgia with a jumpscare for one more time, but returned with disappointment. The movie turned out to be an emotional adieu to the franchise rather than a horror plot.
Several viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share The Conjuring: Last Rites reviews. While some loved the emotional goodbye, others criticised the makers over the lack of gore and scary elements.
One person wrote, “It’s so sad that the last rites is the most disappointing end to the conjuring series… not scary at all + bad + they added badly done gore.. what a drag.”
Another tweeted, “@warnerbros @WarnerBrosIndia Conjuring: Last Rites was not wrote as expected, the storyline felt like some connections were missing, no horror, emotions were not so great. I watched the first day, first show and was disappointed.”
A third person said, “Watched The Conjuring: Last Rites and would rate it 7/10. The earlier films were better & scarier. The 2nd half is good,as the mysteries unfold, but the first half felt just okay and not very scary. I was expecting a better farewell :)overall it’s a good movie #ConjuringLastRites.”
Another suggested, “Just watched Conjuring Last Rites and I could say that it's the most boring compared to the other movies."
Another viewer called the last instalment in the franchise a ‘let down’, writing, “conjuring- last rites is such a major let down. the most predictable jumpscares, and a typical overdramatic plot which had horror missing for most of its part.”
A sixth person noted, “Conjuring Last Rites: A decent watch. Scary? Nah. Not too good, not too bad. The ghosts were kinda funny at times, jumpscares were decent, but it leaned more on emotions + closure than pure horror.”
The Conjuring: Last Rites also featured Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, and Beau Gadsdon, among others, in the key roles.
The final instalment features paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren’s last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.
