Stranger Things Season 5 creator Ross Duffer teases “most eventful" season opener, hints at major twists

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is set to release later this year. Fans can expect a grand and intense finale. According to the creators, this upcoming season will be the biggest and most thrilling chapter yet. Eleven and her friends prepare to battle their most dangerous enemy, Vecna, and try to stop the Upside Down from destroying Hawkins.

On Sunday, August 3, co-creator Ross Duffer shared an update on Instagram, revealing that the first two episodes of Season 5 are complete. He posted two photos from the editing studio and teased the premiere two episodes.

Duffer also mentioned that the first episode, titled The Crawl, is their "most eventful" season opener since Season 1. He described the second episode, The Vanishing of..., as having “the craziest cold open” the show has ever done, but he kept the plot details under wraps.
The caption of the post reads, “Chapters One and Two: locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE. “The Crawl” is our favorite, most eventful first episode since Season 1. “The Vanishing of…” (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.”

He concluded, “I would tell you runtimes, but I was told not to. At a later date, I guess.”

Back in July, Netflix released the first teaser for Season 5. The trailer promises an emotional and action-packed finale as Hawkins prepares for a final showdown against Vecna. The official synopsis teases the group must come together "one last time" to face a darkness more powerful than ever.
