'Shilpa Shirodkar Shot Dead', the actress reveals shocking promotional stunt behind 1995 film rumour

Actor Shilpa Shirodkar recently opened up about a bizarre and frightening rumour that once shook her family during the filming of the 1995 action drama Raghuveer, which starred Suniel Shetty in the lead role. Alongside him, the film also featured Suresh Oberoi, Sudha Chandran, Mohnish Bahl, Aruna Irani, Gulshan Grover, Prem Chopra, and Shilpa herself. During the shoot, a rumour circulated that Shilpa had been shot dead - a promotional stunt that caused chaos in her personal life.

In a candid conversation with Pinkvilla, Shilpa recalled, “I was in Kullu Manali. My dad was trying to call the hotel because we didn’t have mobile phones at that time. I was shooting with Suniel Shetty there. Everyone who was watching the shoot there kept thinking if this is Shilpa or someone else because they knew the news.”

She went on to describe the alarming moment she returned to her hotel room: “When I came back to the room, there were around 20-25 missed calls. My parents were worried, there was a headline in a newspaper that Shilpa Shirodkar was shot dead."

The shocking rumour, it turned out, was a marketing move. The film’s producer later clarified that it was meant as a promotional strategy — something Shilpa only found out about after the fact.
