Nagarjuna has flatly refused to accept an apology from Telangana minister Konda Surekha following a string of derogatory comments aimed at him and his family. The Telugu star has instead vowed to pursue the matter in court.
The controversy erupted after what Nagarjuna and his supporters described as “distasteful” remarks by Konda Surekha targeting the actor and members of his family. The backlash was swift, and Nagarjuna proceeded to file a defamation suit against the minister.
In what appeared to be an attempt at reconciliation, Konda Surekha took to Twitter to issue an apology. “I had no intention of hurting or defaming Akkineni Nagarjuna Garu or his family members. I regret any unintended impression created by my statements in relation to them and withdraw the same,” the minister wrote.
But Nagarjuna made it clear he is not ready to let the matter rest. Speaking about the episode, the actor said to Bollywood Hungama, “When it comes to family, there is no compromise. If the attack was on me alone, I would probably be more forgiving. But mudslinging on my family, that is not negotiable. I will fight till my last breath.”
Nagarjuna’s firm stance also comes at a busy moment professionally. The actor has been actively involved in promotional activities for the 4K re-release of Ram Gopal Varma’s cult classic Shiva. The restored film, presented in 4K with Dolby Atmos, has been positioned as a major re-release, and Nagarjuna’s participation in those promotions has kept him in the public eye even as the legal battle unfolds.
