Popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 continues to be embroiled in controversy. After the Pollution Board halted the shooting of the reality TV show, flagging major environmental violations, the show has now landed in legal trouble.
A formal complaint has been filed with the Karnataka State Women's Commission, citing a number of serious allegations, including caste discrimination, physical assault, verbal abuse, and the humiliation of women.
Three individuals were specifically named in the complaint filed by social activist Sandhya Pavithra N. The names include host and actor Kiccha Sudeep, as well as contestants Ashwini Gowda and Rashika.
According to the complaint, actor Sudeep allegedly encouraged disrespectful behaviour toward women by making offensive and hostile comments about contestant Rakshita.
Additionally, it alleges that during an episode, contestant Rashika physically attacked fellow competitor Malavalli Nataraj (Gilli).
The complaint also alleged that contestant Ashwini Gowda, who is allegedly connected to Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, is accused of making caste-based remarks, making fun of Rakshita's background, and using coded references like "S Category" to suggest Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe identity.
"Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12" debuted on Colors Kannada, following the show's custom of isolating competitors while host Kiccha Sudeep kept a close eye on them. Although the program's primary goal is to produce uncensored reality drama, its content has recently come under intense external scrutiny due to participant behaviour.
