With the release of the iconic fantasy drama Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (JVAS) just around the corner, a strong buzz about a potential sequel or remake developed once again, this time underscored by none other than Ram Charan.
On this special occasion of the pre-release interview where Megastar Chiranjeevi and legendary director K. Raghavendra Rao along with veteran producer Ashwini Dutt have tagged along with the film, Ram Charan uttered something, which has already sent fans floating in the air.
Referring to the film's iconic open-ended climax, Charan commented: "We, as an audience, still want to know what happened to that ring and that fish at the end of your movie. There’s only one man who can answer it – Nag Ashwin. We are not just asking; we demand that you answer us!”
His statement energized social media, where many fans read it as a strong hint that the movie’s Project K director, Nag Ashwin, would be on board for a follow-up — perhaps even a direct sequel to where the original ended.
Charan also remembered the legacy of JVAS stating that it was a movie which defined his childhood.
“This is a dream team. Icons like Ashwini Dutt garu, Raghavendra Rao garu, Ilaiyaraaja garu, Vincent garu and Paruchuri Brothers collaborated. A partnership like that is rare. Perhaps, I turned into a devotee of Hanuman right after I heard Jai Chiranjeeva Jagadeka Veera's song as a toddler. “It is the film I was most memorable in —it’s magical, it’s adventurous, it’s romantic.”
For years, fans have expressed hopes to see Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor —daughter of late Sridevi, who played the ethereal heroine in the original—getting together for the sequel or reboot to the cult 1990 fantasy drama.
Though no official news is out as yet, Ram Charan’s fun, yet serious response, has created a buzz of its own. With JVAS getting the silver screen reboot treatment, anticipation for its cinematic universe just appears to be on the rise.
