Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited sequel Raid 2 has opened to a thunderous response at the box office, collecting Rs 18.25 crore on its opening day. This impressive figure puts it ahead of his previous blockbuster Drishyam 2, which had earned Rs 15.38 crore on Day 1 back in 2022.

Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 hit theatres nationwide on May 1 and has garnered mostly positive reviews from audiences and critics alike. The film marks the return of Devgn as IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who once again sets out to expose corruption and lead a high-stakes raid, this time targeting Dada Manohar Bhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh. The cast also includes Vaani Kapoor in a lead role, while Saurabh Shukla reprises his character from the 2018 film.

According to Sacnilk.com, the film recorded an overall 31.81% Hindi occupancy, with morning shows starting off at 21.23%, increasing to 35.76% in the afternoon, and reaching a peak of 38.45% in the evening. This upward trend suggests strong word-of-mouth and a solid weekend ahead for the film.

Raid 2 has outperformed other recent releases as well. It did significantly better than Sunny Deol’s Jaat 2, which managed Rs 9.50 crore on its opening day. However, it couldn’t surpass the highest opener of 2025 so far—Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava 2, which set the benchmark with an opening of Rs 31 crore.
