Wrestler turned actor John Cena is all set to return as the unapologetic, patriotic anti-hero Christopher Smith in the highly anticipated Peacemaker Season 2.
DC Studios has just released the trailer for the upcoming season, creating a buzz among the audience. The recently released trailer gave a glimpse of surprising cameos and confirmed that Peacemaker is finally a part of the DCU.
The trailer opens with Chris Smith, aka Peacemaker, played by John Cena, interviewing for what appears to be the Justice League.
The trailer then teased Superman's connection with the surprise cameos from Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, who are set to appear in the upcoming superhero film.
Kendra Saunders, aka Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner, aka one of the Green Lanterns, joined the Peacemaker in the interview room. Maxwell Lord, played by Sean Gunn, leads the interview. However, he seems to be on the side of justice rather than a villainous figure.

The trailer also gave a glimpse at some familiar faces, including Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, who was revealed to be the daughter of former A.R.G.U.S. leader Amanda Waller in season 1. Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, aka crime-fighter Vigilante, Steve Agee as John Economos and Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, among many other season 1 characters, are also set to return in the sequel.
However, Robert Patrick will also reprise his role as Peacemaker’s controversial father, August “Auggie” Smith, aka White Dragon. Sol Rodriguez and Tim Meadows join the cast in undisclosed roles. Meanwhile, Frank Grillo will star as Rick Flag Sr., a character he originally voiced in Creature Commandos.

James Gunn's Peacemaker series is part of the revamped DC Universe, which started with Creature Commandos and will continue with the Superman film.
The upcoming season is set to explore Peacemaker's complex past and future, especially his role in Rick Flag Jr.'s death, with Rick Flag Sr.'s arrival sparking intense conflicts.
The eight-episode Peacemaker Season 2 will premiere on August 21 on Max.
