Eminem's latest musical opus, "The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)," burst into the public sphere last Friday with a cacophony of provocative lyrics. Among its tracks, one in particular has sparked immediate controversy. In "Fuel," the album's ninth piece, Eminem ventures into contentious territory, invoking the tragic incident on the set of "Rust" where Alec Baldwin inadvertently took the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with a firearm containing live rounds.

In his signature cadence, Eminem spits, "Fuck around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins / Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then." The timing of this song's release aligns poignantly with Baldwin's ongoing manslaughter trial in Santa Fe, thrusting the actor once more into the spotlight.
During the trial's commencement, Baldwin's defence attorney, Alex Spiro, articulated a strategic defence, asserting the complexities of on-set firearm protocols. "On a movie set, you’re allowed to pull the trigger. Even if he intentionally pulled the trigger… that doesn’t make him guilty of homicide.”

“When this issue discussed, it’s easy to sort of pull yourself into courtroom-land and away from a movie set. He did not know, or have any reason to know, that the gun was loaded with a live bullet. That’s the key. That live bullet is the key. That is the lethal element,” Spiro added.
Eminem has crafted his twelfth studio album "The Death of Slim Shady" and called it a “conceptual album.” He also warned “if you listen to songs out of order, they might not make sense.”
