‘Inside Out 2’ makes history by breaking numerous box office records, take a look at all the shattered records

The Amy Poehler starrer family animated film had the biggest opening of an animate picture worldwide at $295 million. It was higher than ‘Super Mario Bros Movie.’ It also has the highest international animated opening of all time at $140.8 million.

Biggest opening of 2024

The feeling of ‘Joy’ is all they feel over at the offices of Pixar after learning that they have even beaten the opening of ‘Dune: Part 2’ ($82.5 million).

Biggest animated opening post Covid

Despite the popular releases of ‘Elemental’ ($154.4 million domestic, $496.4 million worldwide) last summer and ‘Encanto’ ($96 million, $256 million worldwide) which released during Covid, ‘Inside Out 2’ has achieved the biggest opening for Disney since Covid.

First movie to debut with more than $100 million since ‘Barbie’

Although ‘Inside Out 2’ did not best ‘Barbie’s debut of $162 million, it certainly showed us that theatres are not dying. It is the first film since July 2023 to have an opening of more than $100 million.

Fourth highest domestic opening of a PG-rated film

‘Inside Out 2’ gives Disney the top four positions in the industry history with ‘The Lion King’ ($191.7 million), ‘Incredibles 2’ ($182.6 million), ‘Beauty and the Beast’ ($174.7 million) and ‘Inside Out 2.’

Second biggest domestic Monday for Pixar

‘Inside Out 2’ trails behind ‘Incredibles 2‘s $23.6 million. It is also the third biggest for an animated movie with $22.2 million. It ranks behind ‘Incredibles 2’ and ‘Shrek 2’s 2‘s $23.4 million.

12 million U.S. Admissions

As per box office stat firm EntTelligence, the last time a movie attracted 20 million moviegoers was ‘Barbie’ with 13 million. ‘Inside Out 2’ recorded 12 million.
