Chamkila's musical reunion took place as 'Vida Karo' singer Jonita Gandhi hummed a few lines as director Imtiaz Ali and music maestro A R Rahman watched in awe.
A friend played the harmonium while Jonita sang the hit song 'Vida Karo' from 'Amar Singh Chamkila', which had music by Rahman.
The original number was sung by Arijit Singh and Jonita Gandhi in the movie.
In the video, Rahman and Imtiaz Ali are mesmerised as Jonita sings a few lines of 'Vida Karo' again for a jamming session. Jonita is joined by all her friends who were at the musical session.
Amar Singh Chamkila, which was released on Netflix, had Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra in the lead.
The movie has been earning praise everywhere for its story and its soulful music.
Talking about Jonita, she is a Canadian singer who has lent her voice to many hit Bollywood numbers in the past. Her recent hit was 'What Jhumka' from the superhit 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.'
'Chamkila' movie has been earning accolades, and Diljit Dosanjh has become a rage over that. He also had a smashing concert in Mumbai recently where he spoke of how a Punjabi munda has broken old age myths—like a sardar cannot be an actor, he can't get a houseful arena in Mumbai, etc.
In a video posted to Instagram, which featured moments from his concert, Diljit made a grand entrance and interacted warmly with his fans. Speaking in Punjabi, he addressed the stereotypes he has encountered: "They said Punjabis can't do fashion, and I said, I will show you. They said Punjabis can't act in films; I showed them I could. They said Punjabis can't go to Mumbai, and I proved them wrong. They even said Punjabis can't sell tickets for a big arena, but I showed them a packed stadium at my concert."
Parineeti Chopra, who played the role of Amarjot Kaur in 'Amar Singh Chamkila', has also been praised for her performance and her singing. She also offered prayers at the Siddhivinayak temple as a thanksgiving gesture.
