Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, who was recently named Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara, has now been dismissed from the position. Following her removal, Mamta has openly shared the severe financial difficulties she is facing.
She described her current situation as dire, struggling with financial instability after her expulsion. This turn of events has left her grappling with both personal and financial challenges, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her removal.
In an interview with TV anchor Rajat Sharma, Mamta Kulkarni rejected the accusations that she had paid money to be appointed as Mahamandaleshwar.
Mamta mentioned, "Mere pass Rs 10 crore kya Rs 1 crore bhi nahi hai. Mere bank accounts seize kar diye hai government ne. Aapko malum nahi hai main kis tarah se reh rahi hoon. Mere pass paise nahi hai, kisi se udhar leke Rs 2 lakh diye, voh bhi jo guru ko dakshina deni hoti hai (Forget Rs 10 crore, I do not have even Rs 1 crore with me. The government has seized my bank accounts. You don't know how I am surviving. I have no money. I had to borrow Rs 2 lakh from somebody to offer as 'dakshina' to my guru when I was made Mahamandaleshwar)."
On January 31, Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of the Kinnar Akhara, issued a statement to the media, which said: "Without following any religious or akhara tradition, and without making her renunciate first, she was directly conferred the title and patta of Mahamandaleshwar. Therefore, in the interest of the country, Sanatan Dharma, and society, I am reluctantly compelled to relieve her from the post."
The situation has generated considerable discussion, with both sides of the matter drawing attention. Laxmi Tripathi, who was also dismissed as Mahamandaleshwar of the Akhara, has stepped forward to share her thoughts on the issue.
She said, "Aaj agar yehi Mamta, Islam qubul leti toh yeh Dharmyacharya ban rhe hai aur jo hai yeh kya kuch bolte tabhi. Aaj voh Sanatani bacha sanatan main aagya, toh sabko pet main dard hogya aur Rishi Ajaydas ko hum kaha se jaanege, jinko hmne unke hee ku-karme se kinnar akhaade se doori bana li aur voh kon hota hai [If today Mamta had embraced Islam, she would have been accepted as a religious leader. But now that she has entered Sanatan (Hinduism), everyone is feeling discomfort, and Rishi Ajay Das, who we distanced from the Kinnar Akhara due to his own misdeeds, who is he to question us?"]
"Mere sab puraane Mahamandleshwar baat krenge iss baaaren main aur sab log Bollege yehi Rishi ajaydas tha jo love guru bane the Pehle, inka mooh kaala kia gya tha Pehle, chapplo ka haar pehneaaya tha, inko meera peeta gya tha ujjaini main ["My former Mahamandleshwar will speak about this, and everyone will say that this is the same Rishi Ajay Das who became a love guru earlier, whose reputation was tarnished in the past, who was made to wear a garland of praises, and who was beaten in Ujjain."] she concluded.
Mamta Kulkarni left the Bollywood industry in the early 2000s. Her final appearance was in the 2002 film Kabhie Tum Kabhie Hum. Since then, she has largely stayed out of the limelight, focusing on her personal life and spiritual journey.
Her departure from the film industry marked a significant shift, as she later became involved in spiritual and religious activities, eventually being appointed as Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara.
