Ilaiyaraaja recently addressed the controversy surrounding his visit to the Srivilliputhur Aandal temple in Tamil Nadu. During his visit, the music legend, accompanied by Sadagopa Ramanuja Iyer and Sadagopa Ramanuja Jeeyar, was reportedly asked by temple authorities to step out of the sacred chamber when they proceeded towards the deity.
Ilaiyaraaja clarified the situation, stating it was a misunderstanding and expressed respect for the temple's practices. The visit was part of his initiative to release his new composition, ‘Divya Pasuram.’
Addressing the rumours, Ilaiyaraaja clarified that it was false. The maestro wrote in Tamil, "Some people are spreading false rumours centred around me. I am not one to compromise my self-respect at any time or place, and I will not compromise. They are spreading news that did not happen as if it happened. Fans and the public should not believe these rumours."
The trio visited Tamil Nadu’s Srivilliputhur Aandal temple during a traditional procession. He was there to release his new composition, "Divya Pasuram." However, reports suggested that when the trio approached the sacred chamber housing the deity, they were asked by temple authorities to leave. The incident stirred controversy, and Ilaiyaraaja has since addressed the situation, providing clarification about the event.

A biopic on Ilaiyaraaja is currently in the works, with Dhanush portraying the music legend. The film's first look was revealed on March 20, in the presence of notable figures like Kamal Haasan and Vetri Maaran. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the biopic will feature cinematography by Nirav Shah and music composed by Ilaiyaraaja himself. The film is set to capture the maestro’s extraordinary life and career.
