Global pop icon Shakira continues to set the gold standard for fitness even at 48. Be it on stage or off, she continues to flaunt sculpted abs and unmatched energy. Her stunning physique is a result of years of discipline, smart training, and a nutrition plan designed to fuel her body for performance. Her longtime trainer, Anna Kaiser, recently revealed exactly how Shakira maintains her toned frame and infectious energy.

According to Kaiser, Shakira’s fitness regimen is built around the perfect balance of strength training and dance. “I love to focus on strength and dance separately. Sometimes, if she has a really busy day, we will end up doing cardio on a machine, but most of the time, we are doing dance-cardio,” Kaiser told Us Weekly. The trainer shared that Shakira often incorporates these routines into her stage choreography, turning workouts into an extension of her performance art.

Kaiser added that dance is not just about movement but it's also about endurance. “The dance is meant to elevate and boost the efficacy of the strength training we’ve just finished because at that point your muscles should be fatigued... there’s so much going on that by the time we get to dancing, it’s really pushing her endurance and stamina because of everything she’s already accomplished that day,” she explained.

In addition to dance, Shakira focuses on low-impact strength training to tone her body without strain. “Her cardio is more low-impact, and she really loves to get her brain involved and learn new ways of moving, but keep it low-impact... lighter weight, higher rep. More like my sculpt workouts that I do online,” Kaiser said.
