Bollywood actor Govinda was seen at the funeral of his former secretary, Shashi Prabhu, in Mumbai. The actor was visibly emotional as he paid his last respects to his childhood friend and longtime associate.
According to reports, Shashi Prabhu passed away at his residence at 4pm in Borivali West, Mumbai, after battling heart issues. He had also undergone a bypass surgery recently.
Govinda's current secretary, Shashi Sinha, revealed to ETimes that Prabhu was more than just a secretary to the veteran actor. "He was Govinda's childhood friend. From the very beginning, they shared a close bond, and for many years, he also worked for Govinda. I got to know him later. But during Govinda's early struggles, he was like a brother to him. Govinda loved him like a brother, and their relationship remains the same to this day."
Shashi Prabhu had also played a key role in handling Govinda's political inclination. Shashi Sinha confirmed that Prabhu was instrumental in managing Govinda's political career, but denied that he was responsible for Govinda's decision to venture into politics.
In an interview with Rediff in 2004, Shashi Prabhu had spoken about his role in Govinda's political journey. "Yes, I advise him, but insist that he do what he thinks is best. I may be senior to him in politics, but it's not necessary that seniors are better than juniors. Young and new entrants always have their own views. Seniors have more knowledge, but young people have knowledge of today's world."
Govinda's emotional farewell to his former secretary is a testament to the strong bond they shared.
