Shah Rukh Khan’s grand debut at the Met Gala 2025 was one of the most anticipated moments of the evening. Dressed in an all-black custom Sabyasachi ensemble, complete with a cane, layered jewellery, and a bold oversized ‘K’ pendant signifying “King Khan,” the Bollywood icon aimed to blend Indian regality with global style. The outfit, in line with this year’s Met Gala theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” was designed to reflect elegance, power, and timeless charm.

While SRK’s aura and charisma undoubtedly lit up the blue carpet at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, his ensemble didn’t win over everyone. A large section of social media users expressed disappointment, with several fans saying they expected something more impactful from the superstar. The backlash was instant and fierce — turning Twitter, Instagram, and comment sections into a space for hilarious yet brutal takes.

One viral comment joked, “Woow designer had one job!! It’s giving Dolly Chaiwala.” Another quipped, “Is he wearing Marks and Spencer?” A third read, “Sabyasachi, you did him bad,” while a frustrated fan wrote, “Sorry but Bappi Lahiri served more.”

Comments poured in with a mix of sarcasm and disbelief. “It’s giving a Punjabi groom at a West Delhi wedding,” one user posted, while another fan lamented, “I was rooting for you, how dare you?” The disappointment wasn’t just about fashion — it was emotional. A fan even wrote, “Ye dekhne ke liye jaga mein 3:30 baje tak.”

Despite the criticism, there’s no denying that SRK’s presence alone was a moment in itself. But given the build-up, fans had hoped for something more daring, more iconic — perhaps a look that would rewrite Met Gala history books.
