Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran has collaborated with several prominent Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Arijit Singh, and Diljit Dosanjh. He visited India and explored the streets of the country. He has recently revealed that he watched Shah Rukh’s Om Shanti Om and loved the film.
Sheeran has recently shared a video on his YouTube channel and reflected on his visit to India. In a conversation with Zane Lowe, he talked about the film.
The singer compared Om Shanti Om to Star Wars and said, “It’s a wealth of discovery of movies, and someone going like, ‘Oh, have you seen this movie?’ Have you seen Om Shanti Om? It’s like a really big Shah Rukh Khan movie, and it has amazing songs and dances in it. This is a weird analogy, but it is almost like introducing Star Wars to someone for the first time, and they just go like, ‘What the f**k is this?’ There are superstars in the same country singing in different languages.”
He also recalled his trip to India to film the song Sapphire.
He shared, “What was interesting about doing the whole India tour was that the only reason we were there was to shoot the music video. We thought that we needed to go all over the country and shoot a little bit everywhere. I love that every hundred miles, the culture, language, food, fashion, rhythms, and all of it changed. Everywhere we went, something was more interesting. There are also talents there that have existed for decades that you would not know about.”
Arijit Singh and Ed Sheeran recently worked together on the song Sapphire. The song, which is from his eighth studio album Play, was filmed over the course of a month in India.
Sheeran was seen going on auto rides, exploring the streets with Arijit, and even performing on the streets of Hyderabad. He praised the country and called his trip to India and working with Arijit the "most amazing days in my musical career."
Meanwhile, Om Shanti Om was released in 2007, which also starred Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal in the lead. The film revolves around Om, a junior film artist, who is smitten by Shantipriya, a renowned actress, but is killed while trying to save her from a fire accident. Thirty years later, he is reborn and sets out to avenge her death.
