Singer Diljit Dosanjh made his stunning debut at Met Gala 2025, honouring Patiala’s Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in his dashing Sherwani along with a turban. The singer-actor's entire journey at the red carpet was shared in a vlog where he speaks about his experience.
Diljit Dosanjh has now given his fans an inside look at the process that went into creating his eye-catching ensemble for the esteemed occasion, by sharing a detailed vlog video on his YouTube channel captioned, "Diljit Dosanjh at Met Gala 2025."
In the BTS video, the outfit is first shown to Diljit during their meeting with renowned Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung. The singer's excitement is evident as he compliments the design, praising the Punjabi alphabet embroidered on the back of his turban in particular, which he proudly claims is the ensemble's high point.
Diljit also showed great respect for a fellow actor, calling him one of the few Indian celebrities who have achieved success in the West without sacrificing their cultural identity. Even his international friends were admirers of the star's work, he added, praising the actor for staying true to his roots.
In the video, when Diljit was asked if there was anyone at the Met Gala he was particularly excited to meet, the Amar Singh Chamkila ctor responded with a cheeky response, saying, "Don’t take me wrong, but I am excited that everyone is going to look at me."
In the 13-minute behind-the-scenes video, Diljit also offers a candid look at the moments leading up to the Met Gala, including a peek at the chaos in the neighboring room. As he prepares for the big event, he reveals that Shakira is facing a last-minute wardrobe crisis involving a broken zipper, adding a touch of real-time drama to the preparations.
"Shakira ki emergency ki wajah se sada kaam suffer hogaya. But it is okay... Hips don’t lie and she doesn’t lie," he said on a lighter note, referring to Shakira's popular song Hips Don't Lie.
The clip later reveals that Diljit was ready to head to the red carpet but his departure was delayed. He was meant to pose alongside Shakira, whose arrival was held up by a last-minute wardrobe mishap—a broken zipper that had her team rushing for a quick solution.
Diljit is seen saying, "They are not taking us to the main area, all the action is happening at the backstage itself. Takes us to the stage. I guess the zipper of Shakira’s broke, that’s why we are late. I knew we would be late because of Shakira."
The following segment of the video shows Dosanjh getting ready, donning elaborate jewellery that goes well with his Maharaja-inspired ensemble. He wore an ivory sherwani-inspired suit to the Met Gala in honour of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Regarding presenting Punjabi culture globally, he stated, "I am trying to bring Punjab to the Met Gala red carpet.”
