According to the rumours, the Arjun Reddy actor was taking Vikrant Massey's place and would compete against Ranveer Singh in the intense action thriller.
Fans were immediately intrigued by the prospect of Vijay using a negative role in a huge franchise like Don to make his Bollywood impact. Fans shared stylised fan edits and scene predictions on the internet, creating a great deal of excitement around the prospect of an intense battle between Vijay and Ranveer.
