Dharmendra’s death on November 24, 2025, left the film industry and millions of admirers grieving the loss of one of Indian cinema’s most beloved stars. The legendary actor, who had been battling prolonged health complications, left behind a substantial legacy, including properties, wealth and a sprawling family comprising his children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeita, Vijeta, Esha and Ahana Deol.
However, a recent report has revealed that the actor’s ancestral property does not belong to any of his children. Dharmendra had already transferred it during his lifetime, and the beneficiary is someone outside the immediate family circle.
According to a detailed report by Dainik Bhaskar, Dharmendra’s ancestral land in Dango, a small village in Ludhiana district, was gifted not to any of his children but to his nephews.
The revelation has sparked considerable interest among fans, many of whom were unaware of the actor’s long-standing emotional connection with the land.
Dharmendra was born in Nasrali, but his roots trace back to Dango, where he spent three formative years of his childhood.
The ancestral home, a modest mud-and-brick structure, still stands today and is said to be valued in crores. Relatives who have lived there for decades continue to maintain the property, reflecting the family’s continued attachment to the place.
Despite relocating to Mumbai early in his life to pursue a film career, Dharmendra’s bond with his birthplace never weakened.
The report states that the actor made several heartfelt visits to Dango over the years. One of the most memorable occurred in 2013 when he stopped by during a film shoot.
Villagers recall how he stepped out of his car, bent down, touched the soil of his courtyard to his forehead and stood in silence for several minutes. The moment, described as deeply emotional, has remained a shared memory in the village.

In 2025, just months before his passing, Dharmendra returned once again to Dango, this time to formalise the transfer of the ancestral land. As per the report, he had long ago entrusted the property to the children of his uncle. This decision, rooted in tradition and loyalty, was reportedly influenced by a promise passed down by his father. Fulfilling that responsibility, Dharmendra transferred nearly 2.5 acres of the ancestral estate to his uncle’s grandsons, ensuring they could continue living securely on the land.
The total value of the property is estimated to be around Rs 5 crore. Despite its worth, relatives say the actor never viewed it through a commercial lens. For him, it was home, a sentiment echoed by his nephew Boota Singh, who works at a textile mill in Ludhiana. Singh, who remains deeply attached to his legendary uncle, reportedly expressed pride and gratitude for the actor’s gesture.
Dharmendra’s decision has been widely praised across Dango, where villagers see it as a generous act rooted in family values rather than wealth. As tributes continue to pour in, this lesser-known chapter of his life adds yet another dimension to the legacy of a man remembered not only for his cinematic impact but also for his enduring humility and emotional ties to his birthplace.
