Tamil star Dhanush’s upcoming Telugu film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, is making headlines—and that is not merely for the ensemble of actors in the movie.
The film had been sold to a major OTT service provider for Rs 50 crores (as reported), making it one of the most expensive digital rights sales in Tollywood in recent times.
As per an article published in the Deccan Chronicle, the producers are being paid Rs50 crore upfront from the OTT rights, which is easily one of the best among the recent Telugu films in circulation.
The buzz is being attributed mainly to the star cast of the film which features Dhanush, Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna who enjoy a strong fan following in various regions.
Mounted as a pan-India action-adventure, Kuberaa is based in Mumbai and comes with a captivating rags-to-riches narrative.
The film is as large as it is ambitious; the reported budget of Rs 120 crore says it all. This is one of the most expensive projects in Dhanush’s career so far.
Along with Dhanush and Nagarjuna’s massy pull off, and Rashmika, who is amping up her stardom post-Chhavva, the producers’ are working on banking the pan India ensemble cast.
There are huge expectations from Kuberaa, which is likely not only to strengthen Dhanush’s position in Tollywood but also to push him beyond the national border which should brighten his prospects in Tamil, too. Dhanush’s association with Sekhar Kammula is a well-calculated move.
There is depth of emotion in the story and it also has mass appeal and would work in multiple territories.
The official release of this film is not confirmed yet, but there’s a buzz around Kuberaa. Both trade analysts and movie buffs are watching and waiting to see if Kuberaa will live up to its high-octane promise.
