The catering giant Madhampatty Thangavelu Hospitality Private Limited, known for its brand Madhampatty Pakashala, has approached the Madras High Court seeking action against costume designer Joy Crizildaa for allegedly posting defamatory content on social media.
The company accused the designer of tarnishing its goodwill and reputation by making false claims linking her to one of its directors.
Justice N. Senthilkumar, on September 9, ordered notice to Ms. Crizildaa in a civil suit filed by the catering firm.
The notice is returnable by September 16, and the court also permitted the company’s counsel Vijayan Subramanian to issue a private notice to ensure her response before the next hearing.
During the hearing, senior counsel P.S. Raman, representing Madhampatty Pakashala, said the company was incorporated in 2010 and had grown into a trusted name in the hospitality sector.
Over the years, it catered to eminent personalities, celebrities, politicians, corporates, and government institutions. The brand, he argued, became popular due to consistent quality, large-scale awareness campaigns, and the hard work of its employees.
Mr. Raman told the court that in July 2025, the company discovered Ms. Crizildaa had begun tagging and posting messages with hashtags linking Madhampatty Pakashala, Madhampatty Group of Companies, and associated brands while making allegations of a personal nature against director Rangaraj.
The company alleged that her statements—suggesting a marital relationship with Rangaraj—were wholly false, concocted, and devoid of any factual basis.
In its plaint, the company claimed that Ms. Crizildaa’s posts were made with malice and ulterior motives, aiming to damage the brand’s reputation and goodwill built over years.
“Such acts cause serious reputational and commercial loss,” the counsel argued, stressing that the personal affairs of an individual could not be used to defame an entire corporate entity.

The company urged the court to restrain Ms. Crizildaa from publishing, tagging, or circulating any material—statements, photos, videos, reels, or captions—disparaging Madhampatty Pakashala. It also sought a directive for her to delete existing defamatory posts from her social media accounts.
Justice Senthilkumar ordered notice to the defendant and scheduled the matter for further hearing, keeping the case on fast track due to potential commercial impact.
