BTS leader Kim Namjoon, famously known as RM, is set to premiere his first-ever documentary, Right People, Wrong Place. This eagerly awaited film, inspired by RM's second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person, which was released in May, offers an in-depth look at his dedication and creative process. As the release date approaches, the official character poster featuring RM has been unveiled.
BTS' agency BigHit took to their X (formerly Twitter) handle to share the first character poster for RM’s documentary. The film is scheduled for release on December 5 and will have limited screenings globally. Before its wide release, the documentary premiered at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in the Open Cinema section, marking a milestone as the first K-pop documentary to receive an official invitation to the festival.
Directed by Lee Seok Jun, Right People, Wrong Place chronicles RM’s journey in creating his second solo album. The documentary provides an intimate portrayal of RM’s personal struggles, emotions, and uncertainties as he balances global stardom with his artistic endeavors. It promises to give fans a unique glimpse into the life of Kim Namjoon beyond his public persona as RM.
According to the film's synopsis on its official website: "This film documents artist RM’s eight-month journey in producing his second solo album, 'Right Place, Wrong Person,' while candidly recording his personal concerns and passions. For the first time, RM, or simply Kim Namjoon, steps forward to share his story with the audience."
Ticket sales for the documentary began on November 6, with the first round of pre-sale tickets selling out rapidly. The second round of ticket sales will begin on November 20, with tickets available in India as well. In Japan, ticket sales will start on November 22, with the documentary scheduled for a January release.
RM's solo career began with the release of his mixtapes RM and Mono before he officially debuted as a solo artist. In 2022, he launched his first solo album, Indigo, featuring the hit title track Wild Flowers. In 2024, RM followed up with his second solo album, Right Place, Wrong Person.
RM began his mandatory military service on December 11, 2023. He has currently completed 60% of his service and is expected to be discharged by June 2025, along with fellow BTS members Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook.
