The married life of legendary actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini has long been in teh eyes of the public, particularly because Dharmendra was already married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur, when he wed Hema Malini.
Despite the scrutiny, the couple has consistently maintained that while their family structure was unconventional—with Dharmendra splitting his time between Prakash and their children, and Hema Malini and their two daughters—it was rooted in happiness and love.
Now, a heartwarming old interview featuring Hema Malini and her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, during their teenage years on Simi Garewal's show, has resurfaced. In the clip, the trio openly discusses their relationship with Dharmendra's sons from his first marriage, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
When asked by Simi Garewal about how the half-siblings spend time together, Esha Deol offered a candid response, “We go to London and see him over there, spend time with him. Bobby bhaiyya comes over but we manage to spend more time with Sunny Bhaiyya."
Hema Malini chimed in with affection, simply stating, "They are nice boys."
Upon being pressed about how the brothers differ, Hema Malini provided a thoughtful insight, "Sunny is like his Papa, Dharamji, in his behaviour, in his way of talking I can see a lot of Dharam in him. He is a very nice boy."
Esha further revealed her particularly close equation with the elder brother. When asked which brother she shared a better bond with, Esha immediately replied, “Sunny Bhaiyya. He got me these really nice Nike shoes and all because I love playing. So, every time I go and ask him that ‘I want a pair of Nikes’ and I have many of them, all given by him.”
The affection between the step-siblings is evident in this resurfaced interview, which exquisitely captures the close, if private, relationship that exists within Dharmendra's extended family.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra's hospitalisation for a serious illness recently showed how strong their family bond is. The whole family reportedly came together to support each other during this difficult time, highlighting the importance of family unity during a crisis.
