The film and advertising world united in grief as the legendary Piyush Pandey passed away at 70. Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan attended the funeral at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park Crematorium. The creative icon, who transformed Indian advertising with his iconic campaigns, passed away on Friday morning due to complications arising from pneumonia.

Piyush Pandey’s contributions to Indian advertising remain unparalleled. Starting his career with Ogilvy & Mather India in 1982, he rose from a trainee account executive to become one of the industry’s most celebrated creative minds. His work on campaigns like Cadbury’s “Kuch Khaas Hai”, Asian Paints’ “Har Khushi Mein Rang Laaye”, and Fevicol defined an era of emotionally resonant Indian advertising.

He became the first Asian jury president at the Cannes Lions Festival in 2004, received the CLIO Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, and was honoured with the Padma Shri, becoming the first Indian ad professional to receive the title.
